Diamond Dave’s Wife Shares Her Personal Story
My husband, David “Diamond” Hughes died suddenly of a heart attack recently. He was only 60 years old. After having an autopsy, it was discovered that his main arteries were severely clogged with plague as well as his aorta was diseased. We had no idea that he had heart disease! He had never complained of heart problems.
Since his death, a week later, I received a mailer from Life Line Screening. Pretty ironic, huh?
I researched it and I am having 5 different screenings done. (after Jeanne takes these tests I will chronicle her experience) Life Line Screening has been in existence since 1993 and provides early intervention for people with disease risk factors. These screening services are separate from going to a doctor’s office. They are normally held at a local public health building in your local area.
Why, you ask?
Because most doctors do not automatically screen for stroke, carotid artery disease, atria fibrillation, abdominal arterial disease unless you as the patient, specifically complain about symptoms you are experiencing.
Did you know that over 80% of all people show no apparent symptoms or warning signs of having a stroke or heart attack?
Insurance companies charge a lot more to have these tests done than if you proactively take action through Life Line Screening. The cost is approx. $50.00 to $150.00 depending on how many screenings you want to have done. A small price to pay in order to avoid serious problems or even death, like my husband. It could have ultimately saved his life had we known this screening service was even available.
Please do not hesitate if you are taking cholesterol medication, have high blood pressure, smoke or are overweight. Or, even just to know regardless of how good you think your health is.
It could save your life too !
